Overview
The public sector context in South Africa takes account of infrastructure needs and the economy. Also included are broad transformation challenges, public sector reform, and some social trends emanating from the transition to democracy. The government of South Africa has committed to infrastructure investment to achieve economic growth and to address the infrastructure backlog emanating from apartheid.
It is in this context that at Profica we understand the built environment to be the reflection of a nation’s developmental progress, as well as the physical foundation for economic and social advance into the future.
Furthermore, it’s the construction industry that creates and maintains this foundation in a process that must deliver value to clients and society. We focus on areas within which the government plays a key role.

Gauteng Department of Education - Accelerated School Delivery Initiative (Complete October 2010)
Profica appointed as Principal Agent and Clients Representative for the roll-out of 15 single storey secondary schools. The contractor is appointed on this project on a Design & Build contract. The schools are situated within three Metropolitan Municipalities and one District Municipality with differing approval requirements in the Province of Gauteng.

Intersite - SA Rail, Police Service Contact and Command Centres (Complete end 2010)
Profica was the Project Managers for the roll-out of Phase 1 and also appointed for the current Phase 2 of the refurbishment and new build of facilities to accommodate Command Centers and Contact Points for the South African Rail Police Service in Southern Gauteng. All the facilities are located within existing and operating train stations.

Mangosuthu University of Technology (Various Stages)
Profica are the Project Managers for 7 No new laboratories for the Faculty of Natural Sciences, Mangosuthu University of Technology, KwaZulu-Natal.
Profica are also the appointed Development and Construction Project Managers for the new student housing for 500 students, including furniture & equipment; the new and refurbishment of laboratories and lecture rooms for Faculty of Engineering including fittings and procurement of new equipment for Science and Engineering Faculties.

Bombela Consortium - Centurion Rugby Club, Pretoria (2008)
Profica were appointed as Project Managers by Bombela for relocation and 1,000m² new build for the Centurion Rugby Club, promted by the construction of the Gautrain viaduct adjacent to the site.

SADC, Gaborone, Botswana (Complete)
Profica was appointed as Project Managers for the Request for Proposal (RFQ) stage of this PPP. The project consists of 10,000 m² new Head Offices for the South African Development Community in Gaborone, Botswana. This was a successful bid.

Department of Foreign Affairs, Tshwane (Complete)
Profica was appointed as Project Managers for the RFP Stage for this PPP for the design, construction, financing and operation of a new headquarters accommodation facility and upgrading of existing quest house facilities.
